harvard

Greetings from Harvard! Utmost thank to God for I safely landed in Boston, U.S. and gratefully we manage to rent a great house somewhere in Allston (20 minutes walking distance from Harvard University). I already manage to know the main roads in Allston and Harvard, plus today, I manage to get the right bus to the university for my first class. Yay!

The first class was Writing and Literature which consists of 15 students only (nebes kowt tengok omputih jek) but they're friendly and really contributing to the class discussion. Our first discussion is on a poem by e.e. cumming and our lecturer, Rebecca Summerhays, began the class energetically interesting. Quoted from her: "lets always start with something energetic!" and I believe that's the right way to teach literature. Reminds me of Dr. Adlina and Mr. Abdullah, literature people are always the high spirit, energetic people.

The second class was Adolescent Literature and this class give me head spinning as most of the students quoting and talking bout lines from greatest fairy tales and other famous books like flows of the river. They even know different version of Hensel and Gretel which, me, myself only know the basic plot of the story. I feel very little as I know little and this leads me to the 200 bucks textbook of the course; 15 novels to cover throughout this summer. (I'll share picture of my textbooks on the next post). The class was mesmerizing as it actually reveals many underlying ideas behind simple fairytales, short stories and famous novels which absolutely surprising and unexpected. Mr. Felsch did great job to amaze us in his 3 hours lecture. Time flies and I feel like I wanna sit and listen more on the mysteries of the literature divine.

Enough bout the class. Here's some teasers from the opening week. FYI, I love the ID Card most!

Gotta continue my reading on Fantastic Worlds: Myths, Tales, and Stories. Ciao!
